Once again Chris and Nigel have outdone themselves by opening their lovely home to 23 friends and hosting a fundraising dinner. This was a dinner with their usual twist: we all paid for the privilege of bringing a bottle of wine and cooking our own meal! The evening’s theme this time was Greek.
Our hosts organised us into teams, making sure we mixed with people, we hadn’t met before. Each team was assigned a course, provided a starting time and issued with ingredients, equipment and instructions. A fabulous evening of sipping, cooking, eating, conversing, puzzling and pondering the real meaning of the instructions (are we really supposed to use that much olive oil?) ensued.
All up we had 10 courses, listed here for your “salivatory” edification:
- Melitzanosalata – Eggplant Dip
- Mussel and Rice Pilaf
- Swordfish and Pepper Skewers
- Gorgeous Greek Salad
- Marinated Lamb Souvlaki with Tzatsiki
- Greek Rice Pudding
- Kourabiethes (Greek Almond Bikkies)
Nigel and Chris have now hosted quite a few of these events for a variety of charities. They are a wonderfully creative way to combine fun, dining with friends, meeting new friends and charitable giving.
The evening raised $1,350.
Ευχαριστώ (thank you) to Chris and Nigel for a wonderful evening!
